Day 125 - lamb, lime and long sticks

Bank Holiday Monday usually means James Bond and DIY, at least it used to. Today however was the hottest on record so what better to do than put on some long socks and a waistcoat and dance in the sunshine. As luck would have it today was Tourism Day and I found myself not being a tourist but entertaining them at a National Trust property. Morris dancing always seems to go down well at these events. Some people enjoy the music, some the dancing and some just like to have a laugh. The little kids usually bop around too which makes the parents happy. Attingham Park is our local NT property so we've visited it many times and danced there before but sun and bank holiday guarantees a crowd. There were a few people there from overseas so hopefully they'll take away the idea that such activities are popular and common place.

It was too hot to cook a roast dinner for Roast Leg Of Lamb Day. Also, I'm the only one who would have eaten it so it would have been a waste. Instead I griddled some lamb steaks which were in the freezer. It's not quite the same but close enough for a tick in my book. In case you've been counting, and I know that you have, that makes 444 celebrations so far this year.

Cosmopolitan Day made it 445. I wonder sometimes how many people follow these national days. The Pour House in town often has special offers on which coincide with the celebrations. I think that a lot of people must have known about Cosmopolitan Day if the availability of limes was anything to go by. We tried 4 shops before we eventually found some. For those of you who weren't partaking a cosmopolitan consists of vodka (left over  from Bloody Mary Day), Triple Sec (we used Cointreau as it was closest they had in the Sainsbury's local), cranberry juice and lime juice. I haven't had one before, it was quite tasty. We had to add extra cranberry as the recipe made it a bit too vodkary.  Next Sunday will be Cocktail Day so it was good to get in a little practice.

In case you want something to say Yay about tomorrow, it'll be No Sock Day and Have A Coke Day. They're easy to do. It'll also be Teacher Day so if you are one, or know one then pass on your appreciation tomorrow!
