Day 144 - why do I keep forcing blueberries into puddings?

Saturday started s little grey today. I thought this was a a happy coincidence as my notes tell me that today was Grey Day. When I found the detail however, the actual day was last Monday.  It was another wear this colour to show support for this charity day but my usual sources have got the date wrong, apparently. Instead of wearing grey and spending my evening watching low quality soft porn movies I wore orange and watched a mis-celebration related film. How novel.

The first celebration which I squeezed in today was World Lindy Hop Day. It isn't something I've tried before and from seeing the video we watched on YouTube, it isn't something I'm likely to try any day soon either. It's very energetic and has complicated foot work. I know that as a morris dancer I should be used to complicated footwork but this surpasses even the ever-so-tricky step hop step step hop! I quite liked the music too so put some on Spotify whilst making breakfast.

After breakfast was the big paper airplane showdown for the snappily titled Paper Airplane Day.  The girls are away this weekend and so my two boys and I made a plane each following the instructions courtesy of artofmanliness.com. It was interesting to see how differently they flew.  One was heavy nosed and went straight without much lift, one kept trying to double back on itself and the third dips then rises gracefully before dipping again.   It flies slowly. These amused us for a good 5 mins or so before cried for the TV could be heard once more.

I thought that Sally Ride Day would be about the song from The Commitments but it's actually about the first female astronaut. I was hoping to squeeze in something spacey to celebrate but ran out of time.

There was another Jazz Day today,  this one was International Jazz Day, so I listened to some 'coffee jazz' whilst drinking a coffee.  Rock 'n' roll! Well, not really.

Finally I found myself in familiar territory. My two boys strangely won't eat cheesecake and neither is interested in blueberries so there was no point in making a big blueberry cheesecake to celebrate Blueberry Cheesecake Day. (That sentence has the words blueberry and cheesecake in it three times - excessive?) Instead, I bought a small ready made blackcurrant one, ate the blackcurrant topping and replaced it with fresh blueberries. It was nicer that way than as Tesco intended. I recommend it. Yum. I did the same thing a few weeks back with blueberry pie but this was even easier.

Tomorrow is looking like a quiet one so lucky we have the mighty Shrewsbury Town to watch on telly. #Salop!
