Day 351 - mmm... maple syrup

It seems odd that after having had so many duplicates it's taken 351 days before Maple Syrup Day finally arrived. Maple is one of those flavours which goes with anything, sweet, savoury, it matters not. Just like sprouts! One thing I'm not really sure about is the difference between maple syrup and maple flavoured syrup. I get that one is pure and the other is watered down, but does pure syrup offer anything which maple flavoured doesn't?  Is it healthier or is there another reason to buy pure syrup? The cost difference can be massive. I'm told that maple syrup producers usually sign up to a governing body and those which don't can be almost forced out if business. Sounds a bit harsh.

We usually plan meals a week in advance to make shopping easier. It's also made it much easier to plan these daily celebrations. Today's tea however wasn't planned around Maple Syrup Day but rather the fact that my other half would be out for tea so it gives the rest of us an opportunity to eat quiche. So this offers the question, does maple syrup go well with quiche?  It's not a great question as one of the options when I bought it was maple roasted bacon flavour.  It's a big like asking whether chips go with mayonnaise. Isn't it obvious?

If you're celebrating along then don't forget your plunger tomorrow!
