Day 226 - Rum but no coke

A snail was feeling tired so he took his shell off, it only made him feel more sluggish though... ... get it? Ha ha ha. It's Tell A Joke Day. That was one which a colleague told me from a Facebook group he is part of. I managed to tell a few very poor jokes today but that one was my favourite.  The Sinead O'Connor joke didn't go down very well. Twitter is a good source of jokes on days like these if you find yourself with a few minutes to kill.

Roller Coaster Day was going to be hard to celebrate on a week day. It's not like I can just pop to Alton Towers.  I could however strap my phone to my head and download roller coaster videos to watch in 3D. Much easier! I was given a pocket VR viewer for my birthday and my dad also recently gave us a VR headset which he couldn't get to work with his phone. I had a choice so tried them both. The headset certainly gave the better experience as you don't have to hold the phone and external lights are blocked out. The pocket one fits in your pocket though.  Very handy. I should start by explaining that I'm not a fan of roller coasters.  I may have mentioned that the other day when talking about our trip to Oakwood. The phone option was therefore far more preferable. It's quite realistic, especially as it allows you to look all around you as though you are actually there. What is doesn't do is shake you around and make you feel sick.  If you have access to some VR goggles then it's worth downloading one of the free VR apps.

Bratwurst Day was always going to be a hit with me. We opted for barbecue for tea so I cooked up some little bratties to add to the meal. Yum. We even had a tube of German mustard left from the trip to Berlin in April. Double yum. Even the cats got in on the action. There were two left on a plate after tea, only one she  I came to put them in the fridge. I don't know which cat ate it but Rover was looking quite content on the sofa. I have my suspicions.

Talking about the cats, they both went to the vet today for an annual check up. Check The Chip Day done.

Finally today was Rum Day. I may have already talked about my thoughts on the piratey nectar. Captain Morgan got it right. I didn't have any coke so just drank it straight. Very tasty stuff. We went to the Dominican Republic years ago and were served Cuba Libres by a bartender who mixed them whilst hanging off the back of a travelling bus. Extreme mixology.  It's difficult to not drink rum if you go there, it's cheaper than the coke which they mix it with.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, Thrift Shop Day!
