Day 237 - Bananas. Again.
I am a failure. I am a disgrace to celebrationistas everywhere (I used my word again, do you think it'll catch on?)
Today was the third Tug O War Day and the third I have failed to celebrate. The last two flopped due to not having any rope but I don't have that excuse today. One of my fellow Morris Dancers kindly leant me a rope. Hurrah thought I, a rope and a festival site covered in people. I asked my fellow dancers to take part and many seemed willing ( I was about to type "interested" but that may be over egging it slightly). Unfortunately, the other Morris side which I asked about it were nowhere to be seen. As there were no other teams to take part I thought that I would organise a men v ladies competition. This however fell through when it turned out that there was a dance class on at 11am so half of them scarpered. No worries I thought, I just get some kids to take part instead as there are loads of them. And then I forgot and it was too late. So after all that I still haven't managed to have a tug of war on Tug O War Day. Fourth time lucky?
What I did however celebrate today was bananas, again. I've written on bananas and I've made them into a banana split milkshake. Today was Banana Lovers Day. To celebrate I wrote on some bananas, again. This wasn't enough though, banana lovers do more than writing on banana skins. As fate would have it, the Indian takeaway menu included something called banana spice. That had Banana Lovers Day written all over it. It was quite tasty although a little mushy. I like banana with curry but cooking the banana isn't quite right, it needs to be firmer for my taste.
I didn't really get much chance for other celebrations today as we had to strike camp and drive all of the 5 minutes to get home. I had some herbs on my lunch (coriander on my coleslaw) as one source suggested it was Herb Day but that isn't much of a celebration. Kiss Me Day was also today and is a celebration of the anniversary when Popeye kissed Olive Oil (silly name) but if I'd spent the day asking people to kiss me I imagine that the nice Folk Festival people would have asked me to leave.
Hopefully I can entertain you tomorrow with more tales in the key of yay.
