Day 229 - spicy potatoes
World Photo Day. A chance to redeem myself after the Camera Day ended up with me ordering a battery charger for the Camera. You'll be pleased to know that the camera was fully charged and ready to rock. We're on the market for a new car so to celebrate World Photo Day I gave the camera to the boys to take pictures of the vehicles. I've just looked through the 84 pictures which were taken. A small percentage are actually in focus, very few of them are of cars and the vast majority are blurred selfies. How times have changed. When I were a lad we had to wait for that special moment to take a photograph and when you did they became lasting treasures of special events (that may be over doing it a little but you get the idea ). Nowadays photos are largely forgotten. There are too many to bother with. The value has deminished through both quantity and quality. We upload all of the photographs to the computer, as does everyone, but sorting the wheat from the chaff would take far too long. Maybe there's a lesson to be learnt here. Make of it what you will. I'll put some of today's pics on the Facebook group if you want to look (@YayEveryDay) .
I thought that International Bow Day would be easy with a 2 year old daughter. Oddly we have very few bows. This needs to be rectified!
We did manage to squeeze in Soft Ice Cream Day. Although we missed it yesterday, one if my sources lists it as today so I thought why not. We tried McDonalds, their machine was broken. Instead we stopped in at Burger King. they'd misplaced their spoons. I think that someone was trying to tell me something. I finally got to the car with 5 ice creams and 5 spoons only to be reminded that Mrs H isn't allowed ice cream and Son 2 wasn't supposed to be having one. I had to eat 2. I would say that this was a good outcome but I generally prefer normal ice cream. Some whippy ice cream is nice, I did have a Cornish 99 once which was very pleasant. These weren't great. Burger King could do with spending more time on their recipe in my eyes, more cream, less ice.
Finally today I squeezed in a twofer. Hot And Spicy Food Day and Potato Day. I've celebrated spicy food before but I am a fan so any opportunity is worth taking. I opted for a curry and made sone saag aloo to make sure that there was some potato on the go. It turned out quite tasty although only two of us ate it ( not necessarily the two you may imagine). The boys are fussy about curry. One won't touch it, one just wants the sauce, so I made a range of dishes and everyone helped themselves to their combination of choice. No two of us had everything on offer and only the little one had some of everything on their plate. I cooked up some vegan mince which came from Lidl which turned out to be quite tasty. I recommend it. It didn't taste of quorn with means it starts from a good place.
I noticed this week that it will be Tooth Fairy Day on Wednesday and as fortune would have it, Son 2 has a wobbly tooth! Will it last another three days? Tune in tomorrow for an exciting update!
