Day 228 - no ice cream
Saturday's are all about catching up, doing the stuff on the weekend which you don't have time to do in the week. Shopping. Washing. Etc. etc. You'd think that it would be easy to squeeze some celebrations in around the Saturday chores. I didn't get any in until almost 6pm! I was looking forward to International Geocaching Day all week but Son 2 had a birthday party to go to. In case you're new to geocaching it's an app which allows you to treasure hunt for things that people have hidden. There was one just around the corner from us, Son 1 found it in a breeze block. We took out a fun from a Porsche and put back a plastic toy snake. It was a shame that we had to stop to make tea as they kids were up for looking for another.
Speaking of tea, that was celebration number 2. Fajita Day. I love fajitas. What's not to like? Saucy, spicy, sweet. Yummy. I used a recipe rather than a sauce and it was nicer than the bought jars, heavy on the paprika. Sadly the kids wouldn't try it and the wife was off having afternoon tea so I ate most (by which I mean all) of it. Oh well, if I must.
Finally I decided to celebrate Pinot Noir Day. It was actually quite hard to find, most reds seemed to be merlot. There were two pinot noirs in the shop, one just called pinot noir, no branding. I went with the other. It was lighter than the usual reds I'd prefer but quite tasty all the same.
There were two ice cream celebrations today which I didn't get a chance to celebrate, Soft Ice Cream Day and Ice Cream Pie Day. I didn't mention them to the kids so mum's the word eh?
